Terms and Conditions of Transportation

Established: April 10, 2026 (Based on the Standard Transportation Terms and Conditions issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan)

Applicable Business Operator: JS Co., Ltd.


This page sets out the Terms and Conditions of Transportation adopted by JS Co., Ltd. for its general passenger transportation business, based on the Standard Transportation Terms and Conditions amended by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Public Notice No. 539, effective April 10, 2026.


Chapter 1 - General Provisions


Article 1 (Scope of Application)

Transportation contracts relating to the general passenger transportation business operated by the Company shall be governed by these Terms and Conditions.

Matters not provided for in these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations or by general custom.

If the Company agrees to a special provision within a scope that does not conflict with the purpose of these Terms and Conditions or applicable laws and regulations, that special provision shall apply notwithstanding the relevant provision of these Terms and Conditions.


Article 2 (Instructions of Personnel)

Passengers must comply with job-related instructions given for transportation safety by the Company's drivers, specified automated operation safety personnel, and other personnel.


Article 2-2 (Cooperation in Emergency Measures)

In the event of casualties caused by a natural disaster or other accident, the Company may request passengers to cooperate in first aid and other necessary measures.


Chapter 2 - Acceptance of Transportation


Article 3 (Acceptance of Transportation)

The Company shall accept passenger transportation, except where the Company refuses to accept or continue transportation under Article 4 or Article 4-2, Paragraph 2.


Article 4 (Refusal to Accept or Continue Transportation)

The Company may refuse to accept or continue transportation in any of the following cases:

1. The application for transportation is not made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

2. The Company does not have equipment suitable for the transportation requested.

3. The applicant requests a special burden in connection with the transportation.

4. The transportation would violate laws and regulations, public order, or good morals.

5. Transportation is impeded by a natural disaster or other unavoidable cause.

6. The passenger does not comply with measures taken by crew members or specified automated operation safety personnel under the Passenger Automobile Transportation Business Transportation Regulations.

7. The passenger carries knives or other articles prohibited from being brought into the vehicle under the Passenger Automobile Transportation Business Transportation Regulations.

8. The passenger carries articles whose bringing into the vehicle has been refused under Article 4-3, Paragraph 3 or Paragraph 4.

9. The passenger is so intoxicated that the passenger cannot clearly state the destination or cannot walk without assistance.

10. The passenger is dressed in an unclean manner that may soil the vehicle interior.

11. The passenger is seriously ill and is not accompanied by an attendant.

12. The passenger is a patient, or is deemed to be a patient, of a Class I infectious disease, Class II infectious disease, novel influenza infection, designated infectious disease requiring hospitalization, or has findings of a new infectious disease under the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases.


Article 4-2 (Non-Smoking Vehicles)

Passengers are requested to refrain from smoking in the Company's non-smoking vehicles.

If a passenger smokes or attempts to smoke in a non-smoking vehicle, the crew members or other relevant personnel may request the passenger to stop smoking. If the passenger does not comply with that request, the Company may refuse to accept or continue transportation.


Article 4-3 (Restrictions on Carry-on Articles)

Passengers may not bring into the vehicle any articles that are prohibited under the Passenger Automobile Transportation Business Transportation Regulations.

If the Company considers that a passenger's carry-on articles may contain prohibited articles, the Company may request the passenger to disclose the contents of those carry-on articles.

If the passenger does not comply with that request, the Company may refuse to allow those carry-on articles to be brought into the vehicle.

If the contents of the carry-on articles are similar to prohibited articles and are difficult to distinguish from them, the Company may refuse to allow those carry-on articles to be brought into the vehicle unless the passenger provides reasonable proof that they are not prohibited articles.


Chapter 3 - Fares and Charges


Article 5 (Fares and Charges)

The fares and charges collected by the Company shall be those approved by, or filed with, the Director-General of the relevant District Transport Bureau and in effect at the time the passenger boards the vehicle.

Except in the case of a time-charter contract, fares and charges shall be based on the amount displayed on the fare and charge meter.


Article 6 (Collection of Fares and Charges)

The Company shall request payment of fares and charges when the passenger alights from the vehicle.


Chapter 4 - Liability


Article 7 (Liability to Passengers)

If the life or body of a passenger is harmed by the operation of the Company's vehicle, the Company shall be liable to compensate for the resulting damage.

However, this shall not apply if the Company proves that the Company and its personnel did not fail to exercise due care in relation to the operation of the vehicle, that there was intent or negligence on the part of the passenger or a third party other than the Company's personnel, and that there was no structural defect or functional failure in the vehicle.

The Company's liability to passengers begins when the passenger boards the vehicle and ends when the passenger alights from the vehicle.


Article 8 (Damage Relating to Transportation)

In addition to the liability under the preceding Article, the Company shall be liable to compensate for damage suffered by a passenger in connection with transportation.

However, this shall not apply if the Company proves that the Company and its personnel did not fail to exercise due care in relation to the transportation.


Article 9 (Exemption for Force Majeure)

If the Company temporarily suspends operation or takes other measures to secure transportation safety due to a natural disaster or other cause not attributable to the Company, the Company shall not be liable to compensate passengers for damage resulting from such measures.


Chapter 5 - Passenger Liability


Article 10 (Passenger Liability)

If the Company suffers damage due to a passenger's intent or negligence, or due to a passenger's failure to comply with laws, regulations, or these Terms and Conditions, the Company shall request compensation for that damage from the passenger.
